Your tax dollars at work

NASA has a job opportunity for you - and you can make up to $17,000. The catch? You’ll be spending 90 days (2,160 hours) in bed. That’s right, in bed. At first, I thought “Sign me up!” but then I kept reading. You’re kept “slightly tilted downward (head down, feet up)” for 16 hours a day, with 8 hours of sleep. The tests are for microgravity’s effect on your (or an astronaut’s) body when coming back into Earth’s gravity. Weird. Further down the page, this phrase seems to stick out:

During the final 14 days of the study (called the recovery period), participants will again be free to move about within the facility.

It might be appealing, other than the fact in the promotional materials they state “recovery period” and the test takes place at NASA’s “Human Test Subject Facility”.  I think I’ll pass on this one..
